This week, Spoon announced that they plan to release a new album later this year. The indie rock band even revealed a few tunes off the upcoming LP, titled They Want My Soul. More details below. Also, there’s a trailer for the HBO documentary Made In America, which is a behind-the-scenes look at Jay-Z’s Philadelphia music festival that happened last year. All that and more below.
- Spoon Announce New Record: Spoon has revealed plans to release a new studio album later this year. After a four-year break, the indie rock band plans to drop They Want My Soul on August 5 via Loma Vista. In an interview with NPR, Spoon shared four new songs, including a cover of Ann-Margaret’s “I Just Don’t Understand.” The new record was produced by Joe Chiccarelli and Dave Fridmann.
- “Fancy” Meets “Fancy”: Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy” is still the No. 1 song on the charts, and unofficially, this summer’s tune. Someone decided to have a little fun with the rapper’s popular track and made a mashup video also including Reba McEntire’s “Fancy.” Check it out over at Soundcloud.
- Made In America Trailer: There’s no denying that Jay-Z is one of the best rappers alive. He knows how to throw words together like few people do, and he’s cool. “After great tragedy, creativity is born,” he says in the trailer for Made In America. The documentary, which is directed by Ron Howard, is a behind-the-scenes look at the music festival Jay-Z launched in Philadelphia last year. Featuring interviews with artists like Janelle Monae, Skrillex and Run D.M.C., Made In America appears to be more than just a look at the making of a music festival. The trailer is filled with inspiring quotes about the power of music. The film premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival last September, and Phase 4 Films is in charge of distribution. Made In America will hit theaters sometime this summer. - Tyler the Creator Releases Music Video: Tyler, The Creator released a new music video through his alter-ego Young N*gga. The track, titled “I Just Bought A Bugatti (I’m Happy) features Ice JJ and Damonte, aka Jasper Dolphon. Check it out:
