Taylor Swift graces the cover of British Vogue and talks about why she is not currently dating. It’s a subject the pop music superstar can’t get away from and so she addresses it squarely even as she also speaks about her new album ’1989′ and poses for a photo spread.
Taylor Swift is transitioning from country-pop music icon to pop music icon as her first purely pop music album, entitled ’1989,’ is set for an October 27th due out on October 27th.
She exploded onto the music scene with her inescapably catchy song ‘Shake It Off’ which promptly topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Now she is on the cover of British Vogue magazine for the first time ever and talks about the transition she is making, saying, ““This time around I’ve chosen the brave and bold way of going about things because with this album I’ve completely changed the sound of everything I’ve done until now. So it’s interesting to not be afraid of that.”
Anticipating the reactions no doubt she went on to add, “You know, I don’t want to hurt people’s feelings, I don’t want to betray Nashville, whatever, but essentially it comes down to challenging yourself as an artist.”
She also tells the publication about the current state of her love life which has, as we all know, been fodder for some of her songwriting efforts. She said, “Dating or finding someone is the last thing on my mind, because I can’t picture how it could work with the way my life is. I don’t know how a guy is supposed to walk next to his girlfriend when there are 20 men with cameras, and he can’t protect his girlfriend because that’s the life she chose.”
She went on to say, “I just don’t see how it could work, so I don’t think about it, and I kind of run from it when it presents itself. ‘Cause I don’t think any guy really… They think that they would want to get to know me, and maybe date me, but I don’t think they want what comes with it.”
It is not a surprising lament as we have seen Taylor Swift go through many relationships whose details — whether real or fabricated — have played out in public.
