New Foo Fighters Album To Be Released in November

Foo Fighters 2-SP040811

Dave Grohl has been talking about a new Foo Fighters album for a while now. We know it’s coming–and that it’s going to be “awesome”–but the details, thus far, have been scarce. However, now we’re getting a new piece of crucial information – the album’s release date. The as-yet-untitled effort will be released in November through Roswell/RCA.

Over the weekend, the first bit of new Foo Fighters music debuted in a teaser trailer to the upcoming HBO documentary series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways. The clip aired during the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony. Check it out:

In a press release, frontman Dave Grohl said that he’s “pulled up the family tree of American music and exposed its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album.” He added that each song on the upcoming album was recorded in a different city: New York, New Orleans, Austin, Chicago and Los Angeles make up some of the cities. Grohl also played it risky by not writing lyrics to any of the songs until the last day of each session because he wanted to let the unique experiences inspire the words.

The record-making process sounds exciting and unique, and we’ll get to see that in Sonic Highways, which was directed by Grohl. The documentary chronicles the band’s “hopscotching recording process.” The film will premiere this fall on HBO.
