Audiences are welcoming No Doubt with open arms, it seems. This weekend, the band returned to live TV when they performed at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards. Gwen Stefani and Co. played their new single “Settle Down” in front of a bunch of screaming fans. Watch their first live performance (in forever) below.
The band was introduced by actress Hayden Panettiere and will.i.am. Gwen Stefani seemed perfectly comfortable onstage and made the performance exciting for the audience. She was energetic and moved around with ease, but if you’ve seen these guys in the past, you’ll notice that they’ve actually settled down. This show was nothing compared to any performance on Live in the Tragic Kingdom (which I watched religiously as a kid).
Still, the crowd seemed eager to have and see No Doubt back onstage. Most of the audience was relatively young, and probably wasn’t even born when No Doubt achieved success in 1995. But that’s the great thing about music isn’t it? It can be timeless.
If you’ve been waiting for new No Doubt music, you won’t have to wait much longer. Their new record Push and Shove hits stores September 25. And if you haven’t seen the music video for “Settle Down”, check it out.
Here’s No Doubt’s first live performance in a very long time:
