This week, Skrillex signed on to score Harmony Korine‘s upcoming film Spring Breakers – you know, the one with James Franco looking like a crazy, skinny gangster. Goldenvoice president Paul Tollet announced that the Coachella Music and Arts Festival might soon be moving out of Indio. And comedienne (and all-around awesome person) Tina Fey showed off her rapping skills on Childish Gambino‘s new mixtape. All that and more below.
- Skrillex To Score Film: Skrillex has landed a new type of gig. According to Rolling Stone, he’ll be scoring Harmony Korine’s upcoming film Spring Breakers, which tells the story of four college students who encounter Alien, a rapper played by Franco, on their quest for the most adventurous spring break. Skrillex said in a statement that scoring a film will require a different approach that’s not so much about how the music sounds, but how it compliments the vibe of the film.
- Andre 3000 Will Cover The Beatles: Jimi Hendrix‘s estate Experience Hendrix LLC hasn’t given Andre 3000‘s movie All Is By My Side the okay to use their music, but here’s what you will be listening to when the movie hits theaters – The Beatles, Muddy Waters and Chip Taylor. [via Billboard]
- Coachella Might Move Out Of Coachella: Coachella might soon move out of the legendary Indio desert. According to Billboard, a potential admissions tax on entertainment events – like the annual music festival where tons of music lovers (and not) congregate – would force the festival to leave its longtime location at the Empire Polo Club. The tax would raise ticket prices by $36 each. If the tax initiative gets on the ballot, Goldenvoice president Paul Tollet said that Coachella would be at a new facility, outside of Indio, by 2015.
- Tina Fey Raps On Mixtape: Tina Fey can add rapper to her long list of titles. Childish Gambino, a.k.a. Community‘s Donald Glover, has a new mixtape and in one of his songs, he’s got the one and only Tina Fey cursing like a sailor. It’s a short piece but worth a listen. Check it out:
