Continuing its reign atop the movie world, “Breaking Dawn - Part 2” emerged victorious at the box office while comfortably out-earning its theatrical competition during the Thanksgiving weekend of November 21-25, 2012.
The final installment of "The Twilight Saga” franchise churned out $13.3, $8.3 and $17.4 million in ticket sales on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively, while the Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart fronted vampire flick is projected to take in $63.5 million over the five day holiday run.
Still clasping ahold of its runner-up status is “Skyfall,” as the Daniel Craig starring James Bond production garnered $7.4 million on Wednesday, $7.7 million on Thanksgiving Day and a solid $14.7 million on Black Friday with an earnings forecast of $49.6 million slated for the extended third weekend of release.
Filling out the top five at the box office in earmarked sales are the Daniel Day Lewis historical biodrama “Lincoln” ($34.2 million) in third, followed by the new Peter Ramsey directed animated family flick "Rise of the Guardians" ($33.7 million) in fourth and Ang Lee's adventure/drama "Life of Pi" ($30.7 million) in fifth.
