We begin the Survivor Philippines Episode 6 recap on Night 13 as the Kalabawa Tribe returns from their first trip to Tribal Council. Katie feels isolated and alone now that her only ally, Dawson, was voted out. So she plots to stir up trouble and will try to get the tribe to vote off veteran player Jonathan Penner next. Good luck with that! On Day 14, she begins to spin her web, warning the newly arrived Denise that Jonathan probably has a hidden immunity idol.
Day 15 and things are not looking good food-wise with the Tandang Tribe. Their supply of rice is nearly exhausted thanks to veteran player Michael Skupick frequently munching on it raw. He thinks the rice will cook in his tummy. Given that the temperature is above 100 degrees most of the time, he may be right.
A Reward Challenge might help as the prize is a hearty lunch of thick, meaty sandwiches, soup and brownies. The event is for three players from each tribe to battle in the mud while trying to push a giant ball into a goal. In Round One, we have Jonathan, Carter and Denise for Kalabawa versus Mike, Pete and Lisa for Tandang. Kalabawa starts to make some headway until Tandang changes strategy and basically pins down each of opponents. They wrestle and restrain each other for over an hour with no further progress being made. Jonathan comes up with a plan. He offers Tandang the rest of their supply of rice if they forfeit the game. Mike polls his tribe and only Artise seems reluctant, so the majority wins and Tandang accepts the deal. Jeff Probst is puzzled how Kalabawa expects to eat for the remaining 24 days, but Jonathan is confident in his fishing skills to provide food for his tribe. Ooookay!
So Kalabawa heads off to their picnic and stuff their faces. Jonathan discovers an added bonus, letters from home for each player. These may be more important than the food in lifting spirits. Over at Tandang, they check out the rice they got from Kalabawa. It seems that the amount may only be enough to add one extra day of eating. Ouch! So immediately most of the tribe, led by Artise and Abi, start complaining and blame Michael for forcing them to take the deal. RC lets Mike know what is happening and who is behind it.
Day 16 and Jonathan gets an early start on fishing. He misses a big stingray. While he is out with the spear and scuba mask, the rest of the tribe is hungry and complains about giving their rice away. Jonathan returns with one small fish to be shared by the five members of the tribe. Despite the pure protein, the others are not happy, no feel satisfied.
Time for the Immunity Challenge! One player from each tribe, Lisa and Denise, will take turns launching balls with a large slingshot. The rest will try to catch the balls using a lacrosse-like, net-on-a-stick. First tribe to catch five wins immunity. The event goes to a 2-all tie when Jeff shines and scores two in a row for Kalabawa. Facing a defeat, Malcolm starts a run of his own for Tandang. The event is tied at 4-all when Malcolm and Jeff both go for a ball launched by Lisa. Malcolm scores and wins the event for Tandang!
Back at camp, the Kalabawa Tribe begins considering who to vote off. Do they play it safe and boot Katie or take a chance and blindside Jonathan? Jeff and Carter debate the possibilities. Much hinges on whether they can pull off the blindside where Jonathan will not use his idol. Jonathan joins the discussion and Carter almost blows it when he asks him who they should vote for, ″Katie or Penner?″ Jonathan either did not catch on or let it slide as he declared Katie the target. She shows up and Jonathan tells her that Denise is the target, but Katie does not believe him. She later tries again to get Jeff and Carter on her side.
At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst asks who feels vulnerable tonight? Katie and Denise raise their hands. Denise explains that she is the ′new girl′ and Katie admits to not being very good at challenges. Jonathan is asked about blindsides and he says it could happen. Jeff Ghent tells Jeff Probst that at this point, every vote is a blindside. Katie mulls something about being loyal while Jonathan says he would respect a blindside as good gamesmanship. Its time to vote!
We see Jonathan and Katie trade votes. But the final tally is 4 to 1 against Katie. She is given the boot and sent packing. Jeff Probst says that anything is still possible for the remaining four members of the tribe. Thus ends our Survivor Philippine Episode 6 recap. Spoilers for next week show Lisa and Malcolm bounding and the Tandang Tribe scrambling to gather their belongings. Is a Merge coming? Tune in to find out!
