News that will certainly excite the skinny-jean’d and asymmetrically-coiffed among us came today when Jeremy Gara, drummer for indie rockers extraordinaire Arcade Fire, announced that the Grammy-winning band are working on their highly-anticipated fourth album. Indie rock fans, begin your fervent gasping now.
According to The AV Club, Gara let the news slip during an interview with Ottawa radio station CKCU this week, in which the drummer stated that the band is currently in the studio. While the drummer refused to offer up many specificities on the music itself, Gara did note that band is “just working on music and growing beards and living at home and going out to dinner together.”
So no, that’s not much to go on, but it least it means that Arcade Fire are at least working on a new record, instead torturing us with more years of silence between indie rock masterworks. And while Gara stated that the band’s management and label are not pressuring them to release a new album quickly, the band is aiming for 2013 release, possibly closer to the end of the year. But a year from now is better than nothing, right? Right.
What do you think of the Arcade Fire news? Are you excited about the new album?
