Finding himself in a bit of hot water, 50 Cent has been charged with domestic violence after getting into an altercation with his ex-girlfriend and baby mama Daphne Joy last month.
According to the L.A. City Attorney who spoke with TMZ, the "Candy Shop" rapper allegedly caused $7,100 in damage at the victim's Toluca Lake, CA condo on June 23.
Officials explained that LAPD officers were called out to the residence, where Daphne says that she and 50 had gotten into an altercation and she locked herself in the bedroom for protection.
The 37-year-old mogul allegedly became infuriated and kicked down the door, as well as kicking Joy, which resulted in an injury. During the incident, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is also accused of breaking furniture and accessories, and ransacking the bedroom closet.
In the end, Curtis was charged with five counts,including one count misdemeanor domestic violence and four counts of misdemeanor vandalism. If 50 is convicted on all five counts, he could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.
The rapper is due back in court for his arraignment on July 22nd. At this time neither 50 nor his camp have commented on the situation. In another twist, until now it was unknown that 50 and Daphne had a child together.
Rumors originally started swirling that the pair were expecting last fall, but neither 50 nor Daphne ever confirmed the news. When the L.A. City Attorney released a statement about the above incident, the story was broke with officials saying that the victim and Mr. Jackson had a "child in common."
