Even though everyone (or just about everyone) in America doesn’t appear to know who the The Stone Roses are, they’re an iconic band in their home country – the U.K. Their reunion meant a lot to the British, especially to documentary filmmaker Shane Meadows (This Is England), who decided to make the four-piece band the main focus of his new film The Stone Roses: Made of Stone. Watch the riveting trailer below.

Meadows had been waiting 20 years to record the history of The Stone Roses. He told The Telegraph that making this film made him a part of something “truly remarkable.” He also called the Stone Roses his “all time favorite band.” The documentary covers the band’s 1983 origins up until their 2012 reunion

“It’s not a history lesson, nor is it a two-hour concert film. It is a film about defying the odds, sticking it to the man and telling the cynics to shut their pie-holes!”

Made of Stone will premiere in Manchester on May 30th. The event will be streamed into 100 cinemas across the UK. Following the premiere, the film will get a wide release, across the UK and Ireland, on June 5th. And yes, you guessed it, there’s no word on possible U.S. showings yet. Here’s the trailer:

What do you think of the trailer? Are you a fan of the Stone Roses?
