Compared to Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Coachella, Outside Lands is like the little sister of musical festivals. The other U.S. fests established themselves in the 90′s or early 2000′s; the San Francisco fest didn’t start until 2008. Despite its short run however, the Outside Lands’ organizers have managed to pull together another very impressive lineup this year, which includes Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails.
Other topline artists filling this year’s lineup include Phoenix, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kaskade, Pretty Lights, The National, Vampire Weekend, D’Angelo, Willie Nelson and Hall & Oates.
Grizzly Bear, Dawes, Emili Sande, Jessie Ware, Jurassic 5 and Band of Horses are also in the mix. And the organizers aren’t done filling up the lineup – more artists will be announced soon. The Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival will take place in San Francisco’s sprawling Golden Gate Park from August 9 – 11. Tickets go on sale Thursday (April 18) at noon PDT.
Last year’s Outside Lands featured acts like Metallica, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, Skrillex, Jack White, Beck and Sigur Ros. The event sold out, and it’s likely that this year’s will also sell out quickly. If you’re planning to go, get your tickets as soon as possible.
Here’s the complete lineup:
What do you think of the lineup? Is it better than Coachella’s?
